Many patients diagnosed with cancer will qualify and choose to participate in clinical trials. These programs test the newest and sometimes experimental treatments against the standard of care. Clinical trials enable physicians to quickly learn which new treatments improve outcomes and reduce side effects. Cancer survival rates have continued to increase due to the utilization of clinical trials.
